There are some things you see once, and then never again – and you never stop thinking about them.
This RS6 is one of those things.
This isn’t the RS6 for someone who just wants “an RS6”. It’s for someone who wants this RS6. The one imagined differently from day one. The one in a colour combination admired by many, but still possessed by almost none.
Specially commissioned through Audi’s Exclusive programme, it was ordered in Deep Green Pearl over Cognac hide – a pairing that in 2015 was bold, perhaps even niche. Today, it sits at the sweet spot between rarity and desirability.
Few UK buyers went through Audi Exclusive, unlike the more popular bespoke departments at other marques. Most were content with black-on-black. But this? It’s an entirely different proposition.
This wasn’t specified for the masses. It was built for someone who wanted their RS6 to stand apart, without needing to shout. Back then, green-over-tan didn’t have the following it commands today, which only adds to its intrigue. This car is for the individual who appreciates the difference between rare and ordinary, curated and commonplace.
And it isn’t just about colour. The original list price was £130,000 – around £180,000 in today’s money – and the first owner clearly knew what he was doing. He ticked every box, stopped at nothing, and created what might be the most complete C7 RS6 in existence.
This is all you really need in 2025. The perfect balance of modern technology with the sensation that you’re still driving a car. No intrusive haptics, no overbearing pre-sense system, and a sound system that remains one of the best. Proof, if ever it was needed, that innovation doesn’t always mean improvement.
The details matter. The paint – ah, the paint. It’s the sort you turn back to admire every time you walk away, still glowing with the depth only Audi Exclusive can offer. No privacy glass, silver wheels set against silver calipers, and behind them, those seldom-seen carbon ceramic brakes. The effect is subtle, but deeply special.
There’s more: the carbon fibre styling package, including splitter, grille inserts, diffuser and mirror caps. Add in the black exterior trims, and with its wide arches, low stance and unmistakable presence, this RS6 has two personalities – understated when you want it to be, yet menacing enough to clear the fast lane when it appears in your mirror.
Inside, it could only ever be Cognac. Another choice lifted from the Exclusive brochure, proudly confirmed by the plaques on the door cards. The honeycomb RS seats swathe the cabin in just the right places, with black steering wheel, dash and upper door cards keeping things practical where it counts. Alcantara headlining and Audi Exclusive floor mats trimmed in leather add bespoke richness.
The specification list reads like Audi’s greatest hits: Bang & Olufsen 3D Surround with rising tweeters, Night Vision Assistant, Head-Up Display, Panoramic Roof, Dynamic Pack Plus (with raised top speed, Dynamic Ride Control and Dynamic Steering), Heated seats front and rear, Heated steering wheel, Assistance Pack with adaptive cruise and lane assist, Convenience Pack, Power door closure, Audi Advanced Key, Audi Connect, Parking System Advanced… and more. A reminder that this was far from an ordinary order.
And the curation didn’t stop at Ingolstadt. Since new, it’s gained some of the most desirable upgrades available: a full Akrapovic titanium exhaust (£6,500), an MTM Can-Tronic performance upgrade with sports cats (£6,150), and complete Paint Protection Film (£6,000). Together they take it from simply rare to, quite possibly, one-of-one.
It’s been maintained exclusively by Audi main dealers from day one, with its most recent service just completed at Audi Wimbledon.
Nearly a decade on, it remains the perfect balance: new enough to deliver the everyday usability and performance the RS6 is loved for, yet untouched by the over-digitisation and sanitisation that plagues so many modern performance cars.
