Penned under the direction of Walter de Silva, it remains one of the most resolved shapes Audi has ever produced – a car he himself once described as his most beautiful work. Coming from the man behind cars such as the Audi R8 and Alfa Romeo 156, that’s not said lightly. The proportions are what make it: long bonnet, short overhangs, a clean shoulder line and just enough curvature to give it presence without excess. Even now, over 15 years on, it looks entirely contemporary.
